Hey bud, I have the same laptop and for roughly the same amount of time.
I had the same problem you did too. It may seem odd, but here's what
happened and how i fixed it.

If I left the battery in, the machine would lock up right after I the
sign in screen came on. Sometimes a little later after logging in. I
found the battery was dead and wouldn't hold a charge. SO WHY DOES THE
BATTERY HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE KEYBOARD AND MOUSE...I don't know
to be honest.

All I did to get things back to normal was to remove the battery and
run only from adapter. I suppose you could buy another battery, but
for me I don't need it as the laptop goes nowhere else but here. It
sucks, but I have my keyboard and pad again.
