A "lan card" is a combination of hardware and software. I've had plenty of cards where the "problem" was the card's software, but the hardware/software distinction is meaningless. However, if this is one of the old Toshiba cards based on the Orinoco Silver technology, those cards hard some built-in hardware limitations that were quite serious. [By the way, is this a PC Card or a mini-PCI card?]

What do I need to do to fix this?
