Emachine 2352 charging led

I replaced the burnt DC Jack on my Emachine 2352. Laptop works well,
but the charging led is always on. If I connect the power adaptor to
the DC Jack, the adaptor lights up without being connected to an
electric outlet. :eek: Need help, adaptor drains battery.
