Try taking the 2.5" drive out of its carrier.

I have a Compaq 1550US Laptop with a Hitachi 30MB dive. It will not start
up under A/C or battery.
So, I want to remove the hard drive, install it into some sort of USB20
enclosure so I can copy the data to my new PC.
I purchased a MAD DOG 2.5" Aluminum hard drive enclosure (MD-AEN250USB2)
only to discover that its connector didn't mate with the Hitachi Model
K23DA-30F ATA-5(IDE) Interface.
"MOLEX 87400-5005 or equivalent" is listed as the "Drive side" "Signal
connector plug"
The diagram shows a 44-pin connector with three pins removed (listed as
"key" in diagram).
I think I am in need of some sort of adapter.
I am looking for someone with experience doing this.
