Thank you very much for your enlightened help. It works.
On the 26th of June you wrote in the thread Plextor PX-TV100U that I had
started:
supports the local TV standards like SECAM or PAL, and has an S-VideoThe specification for the TV tuner (under Video Inputs) lists only NTSC.
The S-Video input claims to handle NTSC/PAL/SECAM, but then again you
would be using a different tuner, like in a VCR, to feed the S-Video
input.... You would need to locate a VCR or DVD player with a built-in TV
Tuner that
connector as one of it's outputs. The TV antenna would go on the back of
the player and you would use it's built in tuner to change channels. Then
connect an S-Video cable between the VCR/DVD box and the USB tuner's
S-Video connector. (I don't believe they supplied an S-Video cable with the
USB box and very few VCR/DVD players come with a cable either. I usually go
to a local electronics shop when I need to buy one. The USB box would then
be set to something like Video Input, usually what comes up after you try to
go lower than channel 2 on the tuner on some boxes. You might have more
than one Video input to choose from but one of them should be the feed from
the S-Video connector. <<
To which I replied:
I have a television/VCR, here in the Alps. I need to buy a SCAT to
S-Video next time I drive down to the valley. <<
