I have a Dell Inspirion 7500 that I bought in 2000;

I haven't used it in four years.
Is this an upgradable machine to today's standards, or should I toss it and buy something new?
Thanks,

Ok I'll bite on this one.
Assuming this is a serious question and not a windup I would seriously consider buying a new laptop.
Technology has a reputation for moving quickly and this applies especially to Laptops.
Reasons for tossing the old laptop;
* Windows 98 is out of support, therefore no patches, no updates etc
* Hardware is not powerful enough to run any newer OS, Windows 2000 or Windows XP (not so you could use it anyway)
* Laptop is over 4 years old and most likely uses slow expensive memory, probably limited RAM upgrade ability as well (my Dell CPx500 maxes out at 320MB)
* Laptop CPU's generally speaking are not upgradable, a Pentium II would struggle to run any modern OS or software package at a decent speed
Put it this way, around £400 would get you an Intel Celeron powered laptop running at around 1.6GHz with 512MB RAM and a 15" screen. It would come with either Windows XP Home or Professional and have enough power to run basic word processing/spread*** software along with decent browsing speed and email (assuming internet connectivity).
Happy hunting!
