Bet you can't actually get one of those. All the BB stores in the entire district (Ohio/Penn) were sold out at the store open (lines formed at the door, and there were only 5 per store). Try Circuit City, they have the same laptop but with more memory (512 vs. 256 MB) and a larger hard drive (60 or 80 vs. 40 gigs) for $79 more ($479), but there are rebates (however, you can also get a free after rebate multi-function printer and D-Link wireless router).
Both BB and CC also have a dratically higher end version of the same laptop at $799, that one has more memory, a larger hard drive, a DVD burner and a full Core Solo CPU (not a Celeron).
Anyway, as to your question, these are ALL variants of the same basic computer, the A105. It's a good machine, but it is short on battery life, 1.5 to 2 hours is all that you will get with the battery that comes with the laptop. There is a higher capacity battery for this laptop, but it's not included, and it's quite expensive (something like $170), it will run for more like 3 hours.
I do believe that the standard warranty is one year; not sure where you heard 90 days, but I'm pretty sure it's wrong. Toshiba offers a very good extended warranty called "SystemGuard" that includes accidental damage coverage, and the price is reasonable (about $250 for 3 years).

I have been spoiled with a TRS Radio Shack Model 100 lap top..
It runs for twenty hours on four "AA".
Now my wife wants a lap top that runs Windows.
I saw a Toshiba lap top on sale at Best Buy today for $400.
The place with the most specs was Ebay.
It seems that bettery charge is expected to last 1.5 hours.
Is this typical of all lap tops?
Also read elswhere that Toshiba warranty is 90 days versus one year of
other companies. Are most other manufacuerers one year?
Please repy to NG.
Thanks
