After my long running saga with Mesh, I finally got a ide connector for
the second RAID/ide controller in my Ultima Plus 17 (Clevo).
I fitted the drive, changed setting switch from RAID to IDE and booted up.
The controller bios sees both drives, declaring them master 1 and 2 with
no slaves.
After booting with my XP cd, I deleted and created a partition on the
second hard drive.
However, XP won't see it so I can't format it.
The XP disk gives me an option to format it, but then tries to install XP.
Even if I let it, I think I might end up with two XPs on two hard disks
that can't see each other.
That's not really the way to do it. Boot into an admin account on your
Windows XP as normal; right click on 'My Computer'; select 'Manage' from
that menu. One of the options is manage your disks and you should be able
to create partitions from here and format them. You can also change the
drive letter should you so wish.
