Steps to take:
1. The most common problem is that after a period of time the CPU fan, heat sink and/or heat exchanger have become clogged with dust and need to be cleaned. Sometimes this can be done from the outside with a can of "compressed air", but often (and always to do the best job) the laptop needs significant disassembly. Difficult of doing this varies greatly by model.
2. If that isn't the issue and problems persist, get one of the good memory tests that is self-booting and does not run under windows and run that. Memtest and Memtest86 are generally the best for this purpose. Microsoft also has a similar test.

I have a Toshiba Satellite M30 and mine has just started errors with blue screen, and has now started crashing after 10 mins especially quickly when gaming online. I think ( although i am not experienced) my problem is the video card as originally i got ati2dvag.dll file causing probs. I will have to take mine to the repair shop!

I would like to know if anyone else with a Toshiba Satellite Pro M10 (or M15) has expereinced massive system board issues. I purchased my laptop in May of 2003. Around November of 2004 I started to experience "blue screens" and the frequent failure of my sound card driver to start. In December of 2004 I participated in Toshiba's memory module replacement program. Swapping out the ram fixed this for a time; however, by Summer of 2005 my computer would freeze up entirely after only a few minutes being on, eventually culminating in it not starting up at all. I replaced the system board in August of 2005. It has worked fine up until this month, when I started seeing the blue screens again. Finally, I have lost the ability to play any sound on the laptop. When I try to initiate some kind of sound file, the task manager shows 100% CPU usage (and I have 1G of RAM!) and I cannot kill the process (I have to do a hard reset). Has anyone else experienced these sorts of issues?
