Many of the laptops which allow swapping of the optical drive for
<something else> allow the use of another battery in that bay. I've
got a Dell Latitude D610 with a D-Bay battery that's got a pretty long
lifetime (IIRC, they claim 8 hours). Of course, that's 8 hours of
light use with the display intensity down, I tend to have heavy use
with the display all the way up, but it still lasts (Fermi) twice as
long as the normal battery.
