Inspiron s-video out wont stay enabled

want inspiron 8200 nvidia geforce s-video output to show dvd from wmp,
fool around with desktop properties screen, enabling screen 1 + 2, then
reboot inspiron and s-video no longer enabled. is this normal?

why doesnt it 'just work'? it is a real pain and not at all obvious
how to make it work.

the following post suggests it is simple to setup, but half the time it
seems i manage to fk it up sufficiently so that even the main screen is
gone, and i gotta go to safe mode ...

Subject: Re: Dell Inspiron 8100 TV-out problems (via s-video)

Hook up your Inspiron to your TV. Right click on your desktop and
select
Properties > Settings > Advanced > TwinView and then choose CLONE.

Switch to AV on your TV and you should be all set. The Fn+F8 key
combination is for using external monitors throught the VGA port NOT
S-Video Out connections.

There are more details on the S-Video hook up in your Dell Tell Me How
help file.
