Yeah, I forgot that one... ;-) But that is really only used if you
wanted to wipe the entire drive (semi-clean) &/or in some cases never
wanted to use that media again. I would never use any type of magnet on a
hard drive, there are better better ways to prevent access to an old hard
drive's data -- a sledge hammer comes to mind... However on a floppy or a
zip disk, sure that is a great way to wipe the magnetic media clean.
However in context of the original post, it would seam the user has some
limited permission/access rights to a file/folder on the laptop running
Windows XP (most likely created/owned by another user), and simply want
to delete that file/folder from the hard drive. It did not sound as if
they waned to wipe the entire drive clean, so no drive data could be
recovered.
Perhaps the user, which posted the original question, could clarify things
a bit better, so we can understand their full file/folder deletion needs.
