Re: Partition Magic BT Disks

Well Bob I gave up on it and took it to a pro shop not far from my home and they said they will do the partitions I want and charge me $45 for their expertise. The guy I talked to there had never seen or used Partition Magic so he was understandably a little confused. He was telling me if I want more than one OS partition as follows Part 1 (winxp) 12 gigs size Part 2 (win95) 5 gigs size Part 3 (dos) with whatever nr of gigs is left over in the 20 gig C: drive

He says that would reuire him to make Part 1 (win95) as winxp would
need to see a previous versin of windows first in order for me to
install win95. I had to explain to him the version of win95 that
I have is an OEM CD version and its does not look or expect to see
a previous version of windows as it was sold only for new PC's
as an installed version. I told him dont wipe anything out of
win xp/pro thats why need his expertise to do the job. Also
had to explain to him PM8 actually offers a menu which you can
call any OS from. Its then hides the other OS' thus preventing any
conflict. So now got my fingers crossed that he wont mess up the
stuff on my computer. He is supposed to call me tomorrow when
its ready for pickup. I can deal with FAt16 or Fat32, but ntfs
is a different ball game both the way it handles the geometry
of the larger HD's now on the scene. Something about 1045 cylinders
et al ad infinitum. So will see what happens.
                    Joe

Well, that confuses me! First a professional who has not heard of PM ... Second, what he says. For your information, on the machine I am using now to write this, I have Win98, Win2k and WinXP in separate and independant partitions, then I have several partitions for my data, swap file and temps. All 3 systems runs totally independantly from each other. Of course, to manage this, I use System Commander, otherwise, it would be to complicated and unreliable.

I cannot say I would have done the job for $45 though!
