3 Make sure you use identical 2 sticks of 1 gig RAM one in each
of the blue slots. Windoze xp x32bit will not recognise
the full 4 gigs. I have 2 gigs spare now until I get 64bit
windows. -
Windows XP/Vista 32-bit will recognize about 3.4 GB of RAM. Many
users install 4 GB. Usually 2 GB x 2 is used instead of 1 GB x 4
because some mainboards have trouble handling four sticks of RAM.
Adding your spare 2 GB of RAM might increase your usable RAM to
somewhere around 3.4 GB.
John,
When you built your computer and booted up for the first time, did you
have 4 GB (2x2gb) installed on your MB or did you only have 2 GB
(2x1GB)? I just received my Kingston 2x2GB ValueRam 1.8v sticks and was
curious if the DP35DP will boot with 4 GB for the first time using
Windows Vista 32bit. If it won't, I'll only install a single 2GB stick,
boot and install the other 2 GB stick when everything (hopefully) is up
and running smoothly. :-)
