After my "RAID Setup and DP35DP?" tale of woe just now posted, I found http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/916196/ .

This MS KB article documents which USB FDD's are supported for use during an WinXP installation, at least as of Mar2006. My NEC model is not, perhaps there is my problem.
