Re: Any OSX86 users here?

No - most people feel it would devastate their hardware sales
because their hardware is so overpriced and has a high profit
margin.

No. The vast majority of operating systems (ie Windows) comes
pre-installed. That's how people come to own their OS - because it's
already on the computer they take home from the big-box store, or from
on-line retailers like Dell.

A sale of OSX-86 purchased either on-line or from the shelf of a
big-box store would go right onto someone's old, existing PC and would
not steal a new MAC sale.

There's a lot of evidence that most MAC sales come from people buying
their first computer, or are buying their second or third MAC.

Apple made a huge blunder by not releasing OSX-86 for the PC before
Vista came out. Microsoft was building upgrade-excitement with Vista,
and Apple could have stolen that excitement by allowing people to
upgrade their existing XP-PC with OSX instead of Vista. A release of
OSX for the PC during the second week of January would have hurt Vista
in a major way, but Apple blew it.
