....or anybody else who can assist me.......

I finally got my Linksys wireless router set up today and connected it
to my cable modem......and it actually worked!!!!!!

Plunging on, I had just picked up a PCMCIA wireless card, stuck it in
a TP770 and voile.....I am on the internet sitting in my dining room
with no wires hanging out of my TP770 and I am indeed connected to the
internet.

I am physically connected with my 7044-170 with a CAT5 cable to my
Linksys BEFW11S4V4. I have a full-house AIX 5.2 (plus AIX Toolbox)
installation on the -170 and it runs smooth.

Tell me where to go to find out how to configure an internet
connection.........please?

" Big " Basil indeed !! How did you know I put on a few pounds over winter.
Did you put spyware in that last cable you sent me ?

Can you ping your router from the Black Beast ?
Did you install networking in configassist ?
You will have to install a browser, suggest Firefox.
Use smit/communications applications & services/tcpip/min config &
startup/select en0 then fill in the squares. Have not seen this written
anywhere, but in AIX, I find you have to do an immediate restart to get your
TCP/Ip alterations to stick.
You will probably have to tweak your /usr/netsvc.conf and /usr/hosts files.
Another thing I found out, things seemed to go smoother with the network
going and connected to my dial up ISP. With the AIX machine connected to the
router I then started up the AIX machine. I could never get automatic IP
address configuration to work, did it all manually. Just make sure you use
an unused 192.168.0.XXX IP address
You put your router address ashttp://192.168.0.1( or what ever address it
is ) in the Firefox address line, hit go and you should be on the internet.
Our more experienced members could probably give you a more logical sequence
as I got there by trial and error.
Lets know any specific areas you may stumble on and I can go through my
logs.
Currently going through the same exercise with FreeBSD and Solaris 10. Heck,
Unix absolutely detests Windows P2P networks.

Hi Basil.....

My Linksys router is 192.168.1.1.....and I can ping it with no
problem. Also I can access the setup window for the router.
Conventional wisdom would tell me that all I have to do is download
and install and run Firefox, right?

Which version did you download from Uli's site?
