This is annoying the crud out of me. I'm helping someone get their
7030 up with their 3151 as the console (video card is missing). We
followed all the settings recommended for one, and it installs without
a hitch. But, when it reboots, the machine is unusable. In 4.3.3, you
just get nothing after "Completed NFS Services.", whereas in 5.1, it
rejects all login attempts. The serial cable being used is the well
known Belkin one.

I had this exact problem on a 7011 and a 7009 and the Belkin cable F3X171-10
solved the problem.
I would suspect the cable is faulty and test it or try another. See you have
no bent pins in the sockets on the monitor or computer.
