I was wondering a good CPU benchmark to show the performance difference.
I'm a big believer in the "load some software and run it"
benchmark...install the software you plan to use and see how it reacts.
Although I think this sounds obvious--and I don't want to offend--using the
software that will be running on the machine gives you the most accurate
picture of how well your upgrades are working in the configuration where
you'll be using them the most.
I upgraded a 50Z to a 20MHz SXNow and found that Landmark Speed! reported
both faster video and processor speed when run.
In reality, the processor speed was noticeably faster, while video from the
8514/A got to be noticeably slower. Screen redraws under Windows 3.10 were
probably the most noticeable slowdown I saw.
