Should I not install Windows NT 3.1?

I'm certainly beginning to wonder. I recently obtained a Windows NT 3.1 disk
set (22 diskettes) and tried doing a test install under Microsoft Virtual PC
on my laptop. The text mode portion of setup worked fine, but when Windows
started it said my CPU was not supported.

I made plans to try again with an extra Model 53SLC2 and two Maxtor 1GB hard
drives...that shouldn't be too fast or modern to work! While I find Maxtor
drives to be of dubious quality anyway, I would have used them for a test
installation. Both of them ended up being dead. I looked around some more
and found a Quantum Sirocco from a Power Macintosh 6400. After zeroing it
out and formatting it, I tried to run NT setup on the Quantum drive...10%
through the formatting, it started clicking repeatedly...

Sheesh...must be an omen of some kind! Not that I'm going to hear any of it.

I'm off to see if I can find either the 800MB Samsung or the 1GB Western
Digital drives I know are around somewhere.

Were there ever any service packs released for NT 3.1? (And if so, where can
they be found? Google didn't turn up anything in the first few pages.)
