Hi!
I can add perhaps too much information here. My uncle was the dayfloor
manager before & during the timeframe that adapter (and others) were
produced. He remembers how much the adapter cut costs from a full-length
earlier version (which I also have).
Any and everything is welcome. :-)
I could--in a way--see the cost cutting in this adapter. Apart from the
media interface stuff, the construction strikes me as very highly
integrated. I look at this and I think "modern single chip PCI Ethernet
NIC". It looks much more modern than most MCA Ethernet boards.
The ADF talks of two different adapters. Mine is the lower end of the two
with the 16K buffer RAM and no support for a boot ROM. Must have been more
cost-cutting at work. This is one of the few--if not the only--MCA NIC I
have that cannot remote boot.
This one was made in the US, so maybe your uncle saw it go by on the line.
There was muchI
more politics between the individuals that started & sold the company that
may not have the ability to related (or would it be needed).
Isn't that always a factor?
If I understand what you're saying correctly, what you want to relate about
the happenings is totally up to you.
Like Louis, I'm trying to keep some things from slipping totally into
oblivion...in whatever way I can.
Do you mind if I put your comments on the page?
William
