Results of my investigation:
E-beigh wasn't very helpful. There are 23 converters listed, from 4
sellers.. Not a single one has an adequate picture. I want to be
certain the gender is right. There is more than one style 80-pin
connector. Too bad, they were priced at about $2.75 each PLUS s/h.
Then I called Adaptec. Despite a dozen warnings saying I have to be a
power buyer, they talked to me. The AHA-2940 is on its way out and
will be discontinued over the summer. Replacement is 291260. As to
SCA , it is meant to be used with a backplane. To use it in a
spineless computer, call CS Electronics for an SCA converter.
I called CS Electronics at 949-475-9100 and looked on their web site at
cs-electronics.com. They're worth checking out because they pay a LOT
of attention to SCSI connections. They custom build cables, etc. They
have about 5 models of what I'm looking for, and I ordered one for $35.
(ouch). Do they supply Cables to Go? No, they're competitors and
Cables to Go probably has their converter made overseas somewhere. CS
makes them itself in California. (But that's not part of the United
States???).
Thanks for the lead, Louis.
