Unstable parts? I am not sure if i understand now. Sid is unstable meaning
that the packages may be horrndously buggy. Any and all packages. Sid is known
to go casters-up, unstable on Debian means that the software has not been
checked for stability or installability yet, that is why Sid is there for.
Masochists and developers use Sid to see if the packages can be admitted to
testing.

That information is not too useable for debugging as of yet. What version of
Debian did you install? I hope it was Sarge. StarOffice? I don't think that
is in Debian at all, at least apt-cache search on Sid turns up nothing. If
it is not on Sid, it is not on Debian. Installing non-debian stuff does
break the package system and if something goes wrong with the install...
very hard to fix and almost impossible to isolate the problem.

I am not sure how you installed Mozilla and StarOffice, apt-get install foo
is the way to go. apt-cache search foobar finds what is available, never
install from source or non-debian packages unless you absolutely have to,
most of the stuff is already in Debian. StarOffice is not, there is
OpenOffice.org though.
