Most cards I've seen with DVI (digital video interface) also have either an analog
port, or another DVI. There *might be* some cards with only a DVI port, in
principle.
And is it simply a matter of plugging in 2
: monitors?
Pretty much. You'll need to go into the graphics settings
(on a Wintel machine,
go to the desktop and right-click, then hit Properties).
There you'll find options for activating dual monitor support;
picking one monitor as the main one; setting each monitor
to display the same stuff, or spread the deasktop across both, etc.
Yuo should be able to set the resolution for each monitor independently.
This can be useful if you have, say, a 19" CRT and a 19" LCD, where
the latter will have one native resolution you should stick with.
The CRT can have its resolution at different settings, which gives you
flexibility, especially with older games.
