I know nothing about them. I didn't understand that the HLFS included standard SATA power and signal connects, if in a different location that its cousin.
www.newegg.com still lists both models.

I also thought the one I want is the GLFS but the feedback I'm getting on
this question on other forums is to go with the HLFS because its
connectors are positioned so that it can work either in a backplane or
standard (non backplane) PC. I am lead to believe that the two models are
identical except for the physical location of the power and data
connectors and that either one will be OK in a standard PC.
ALso, two distributors told me that the GLFS is being discontinued and the
HLFS is considered the replacement.
Do you have different information?

The GLFS is the one you want, unless you can use a "backplane" model (the
HLFS), or can provide a mount with sufficient cooling for the core 2.5"
drive (the BLFS). (The 300GB Raptor is a 2.5" drive, but it's mounted in a
heatsink/adapter for use in a standard 3.5" application.)

I'm planning to get the Western Digital 300GB VelociRaptor drive for a new
PC. I'm trying to figure out the difference between the following two
versions of this same drive:
WD3000GLFS
WD3000HLFS
I think it has something to do with the data and/or power connectors but
I'm not sure. Any clues appreciated.
Thanks
Peter
