It is part of the ongoing SATA standard.
Saying that SATAII is not SATA is like saying that SCSI-3 is not SCSI.

And even if not, that doesn't make a difference. The SpinPoint doesn't need
a SATA300 interface. Contrary to ATA-133 (and ATA-100, -66, etc. before
it), SATA300 is a gimmick. SATA300 becomes necessary when drives will
exceed 100MB/s. Right now, that is high-end SCSI territory.

Very unlikely. The RAID part is remote from the physical drive interface.
As to the logical part, even if there is no choice in using the controller as
Standard mode vs RAID mode, there usually is a single drive RAID solution.

Unless the FM specifically says not, expect it to be usable that way.
