Our ability to use those transistors constructively _has_.

Processes keep shrinking, but a 50% transistor shrink no longer
equates to doubling the number of transistors. Wires aren't
scaling.

Gigabyte RAM is a waste for most people until software sloth and
gluttony catch up.

I don't think that's so true anymore. 1GB is about the minimum
these days, particularly at the price. This system only has 512MB
and I can see it.

Cache is a steep curve of diminishing returns.
Double core is brute force. So is bringing much of the Northbridge
on the CPU die. But has significant efficiency [latency] benefits.

I certainly agree with the above. Nothing inherently wrong with
"brute force" though. Bringing the memory controller onto the
processor wasn't about transistors though, it was all about latency
(and admitting that memory doesn't change as fast as processors).

And enables a move to HT-SRAM if gluttony continues slothful.

How is SRAM going to help when "gluttony continues [to be]
slothful"?
