I find that at times that anand has some good insight and some good
articles, they also have an article on Newegg, which I thought was also
a good read.

After reading the article, I was thinking that I did not hear a word
about Apple's implementation of USB with the Core Duo. Or to be more
specific how Apple new notebooks handle USB, it would be fun to see if
anyone does a comparison to see if its the chip, or the OS that has
more efffect on battery life. Also you would think that people would
test AMD's solution as well just to see what the benchmarks say. I
figured that someone on this group must have some experience with this
subject matter.

Did you actually read the article? Because the problem is *NOT* with
Core Duo at all! It's a "feature" of Microsoft's USB 2.0 driver in
WinXP SP2.

Given that Apple's systems don't run WinXP SP2 it should be easy to
figure out that they would not be effected by this Microsoft bug.
It's also important to note that they were able to eliminate this
issue by entering a registry key (only didn't work on one laptop, but
that's probably due to other issues).
