Wow, nice show of gratitude - they are giving you all the new content, rather than expecting you to go out and buy a whole new version (like many game publishers out there today would)... And all you need to do is verify you actually bought the original game by registering it - no big whoop. Ah well, I guess some people just can never be satisfied.

There are 2 sides to this story & I don't think you're seeing the other one from the right perspective CS ;-p (don't be a cLewlis & allow the neurons that process other ppl's opinions to atrophy irrecoverably! ;)

Did you buy the game btw? For ppl who did, it's probably going to seem funny now how the original version on store shelves is heavily discounted & the 'new & improved' version is at full price, even though the original will be exactly the same thing with the 'free' patches applied. Free my fat arse, heh.

Oh, I get both sides... But I just think it's being rather nitpicky considering the company is providing patches to all customers rather than forcing them to buy new or pay for an upgrade. I can completely understand why they want to limit downloads to registered (as in valid) customers - if they are internally hosting the patches, opening up the floodgates to anyone out there could be more trouble than it's worth. And of course, there are always those nefarious individuals who might see it as a chance to practice their uber-l33t hacking skillz and try to crash their server. But, hey... But hey, they could have just said "screw good customer relations" and outsourced the whole patching process to somewhere like FilePlanet, so everyone could get harassed about buying a premium membership, have long queues and risk corrupt downloads. And yes, I got the game previously... It's been sitting in my cabinet for quite a while, waiting for me to have some time to play it. I was considering whipping it out, then the news of the new patch came out, so I decided to delay gratification until I could just start from the beginning with the Enhanced version. As for seeing the old version discounted, well you are paying the premium for the new version to save the time and energy of having to do the big patch. Savvy buyers will get the old version and upgrade, which is actually good for both the retail store and the game publisher - it sells the old stock off for at least a minimal profit, rather than having to rock-bottom the pricing and throw it in the bargain bin. Judging by pricing around here, the old version is running about $10-$15 less than the new right now, might get a little cheaper, but I don't see it hitting the "$10 and under" bargain bins for quite a while.
