Re: LotRO: So how is the solo content these days?

I'd find that number very limiting, to be honest - group dungeon crawls

Yes, a lot of potential players don't like this. They just can't
grasp the concept of a game that isn't about dungeon crawls
(and are often quite rude about in their objections). On the
other hand, the sorts of players who weren't very fond of
WoW-style dungeons really like LOTRO.

I never did outlands, or any end-game stuff in WoW. But
earlier dungeons I felt were too long. Wailing Caverns
for instance. Even Deadmines was a bit too long except
for really experienced people who knew what to do.
Uldaman, Maraudon, etc. All of the instances basically
took me blocking out a day on the weekend; both for
getting the group as well as for completing it and getting
more players when someone leaves.

I really like Gnomeregan, which was long but at least
had a key so you could split it into two halves. But
most of the time whenI could find/recruit a group going
to the second half someone would plead to do the first
half and then the group would dissolve when that was done.

But my point about MMOs... they do stand with "Massively Multiplayer"
and it seems to me that that should normally entail players doing things
together.  So to make everything solo-able kind of defeats the purpose.

But I didn't say anything about everything being soloable.
It's still sort of that mythical "fact" everyone brings up, that
"MM" means "thou shalt group". Multi-playe only means
that there are multiple players, not that they all have to
be teamed up. If someone solos in an MMO they are not
isolated and alone.
