We have Vista to thank for a bit of awakening in the seats of corporate
power.

How so? It's dumbed down even more than XP & less accessible for anyone who has half a clue & wants to work with it at a tech level.

If you mean that the corp world has finally seen Windows for what it is, mostly smoke & mirrors, bloatware & an added cost to their enterprises, rather than a decent business facilitator of any kind, then HALLELUJAH!
Btw, I don't think Windows is evil in any way (it's a 'thing' - can't be); but there's a lot of evil, unscrupulous, greedy men who drive it's direction, lack of substance & QA - they needed to get a wake up call. Hopefully this is a turning point & sanity will prevail with future releases of Win, but I'm not hopeful. This is what you get when your team of PR, Marketing & Legal ppl is far larger than your designersm developers & testers, more's the pity. They have so much money & resources to make something _great_, but all they do instead is churn out window dressing for the sheepy or apathetic masses. And the rest of us have to fall in line as we have no easy alternative choices *sigh*.
