So what games do you have wasting space on your hard drive
that you can't bring yourself to uninstall, but which you just don't
seem to ever be in the right mood for? How many of you are weird like
me and do this?
For Me:
Bioshock - Installed. Want to play it. Have played like an
hour into it. But whenever I"m in an FPS mood, UT3 is the one I start
up. Shooting an NPC in the face isn't as satisfying as shooting an
player controlled character in the face. => I should probably just
uninstall this one.
CoD4 - Same as above, though I really should try its MP. As a
general rule for myself though, I won't do MP ina game until after
I've finished it in SP. Maybe I should break that rule this time
around.
Guild Wars + all expansions - I have played it a bunch in the
past, but I'm kind of MMO'd out lately. Luckily, there's no monthly
fee, and I have the room on my HDD, so I leave it on so that its ready
to go when the whim grabs me. The whim just hasn't been doing that
for a while is all.
The Witcher - technical problems are what keep me from
playing. Had great fun for the first few hours of the game, ran
perfectly, looked awesome, not even any chugginess, but then suddenly
saving games causes it to crash. Can continue play so long as I don'
t ever try to save a game. Appearantly its a common prob for my
graphics card in combination w/vista. Been waiting forever for
another patch/workaround (tried several workarounds already to no
avail). I hate it when a game gets my money, but for technical
reasons I can't get my money's worth out of it, and they end up never
fixing it (like w/beyond divinity). They'll use my purchase as part
of their sales figures to brag about how great they are, overlooking
the fact that I'm pissed at them and that I'll be much more cynical
about future releases from them. Never realizing of course, when the
sequal doesn't sell quite as well, that some of the reason might be
the bugginess of the prior release, blaming it instead on whatever
soothes their ego. Luckily, its pretty rare, becuse usually you can
tell w/a demo or whatever in advance that you'll have trouble. But
when its a less obvious problem, then such is harder to avoid. I'm
still hopeful it will be fixed in regards to this title, mind you, in
which case all is good, I can wait. So it stays the HDD until I give
up on the isssue being resolved.
HoMMV + expansions - vanilla works fine, but the expansions
have similar technical problems (similar in that they seem to effect
people w/the combo of vista and my graphics card). These are the only
2 games I want to play that I have technical probs w/in vista, so they
stay on my machine in the hopes that they'll be fixed in a
patch/workaround. I check forums and tech support every once in a
while. I'm patient, I can wait. So it stays on the HDD. If its not
fixed by the time Disciples 3 comes out, I'll just uninstall (assuming
of course that disciples 3 works).
Fury - Similar deal to guild wars above. No monthly fee, so
might as well keep it installed in case the whim grabs me. I heard
they changed it a lot since I last played, so perhaps its time to
check it out again. Making this thread brought it back to my
attention again, so maybe I'll be able to move it from this list to
the 'games I'm playing' list soon. =>
CivIV + Beyond the Sword - Not a bad game, just not finding
myself interested lately, more in the mood for other TBS alternatives.
I should probably just uninstall this one or a good while, it'll seem
all the more shiny and new again a year from now.
NWN2 + Expansion: finished the OC, went a ways into the
expansion, then stalled. Think I just reached my limit for a while.
I'm still convinced that I'll get back to it. Plus, ya never know
when there might be a user made module I want jump in to. So it
stays.
Nethack variants - I just keep going back to vanilla nethack,
so the variants get no love. They're so small there's a negligable
impact on my HDD space, so I just leave them be out of laziness.
Oblivion - this is the only one that makes both the list of
'games installed that I don't play' and 'games i"m currently playing'.
I do play it, like for one sitting, like once a month, but its more
out of stubborness now than interest. I think I should probably just
uninstall it.

Installed? Just the Realms of Arkania trilogy. Now, in boxes I have a
bunch of games that I haven't installed yet: Medieval 2, The Sims,
Second Life. Who knows when, or if ever, I'll sit down and play
them :) I still have a bunch of RPGs to play in my PS2 (now PS3) so
who knows.
