I am a bit surprised that is such a hassle to install this program and
get it working. I spent a good part of a day trying to install it, get
it patched and then login. I had to change my internet options to
proxy which caused other programs to suddenly not work like browsing,
I had to install and then reinstall the program to get the updates
working since apparently downloading the book11 patch screwed up some
file somewhere and then finally, like the final was that I couldn't
login. Well I decided to pass on Lotro, maybe it is good for some
configurations and if you are playing in the US but from here in
Singapore it didn't work very well.
Funny & ironic, since a mate & I could only get the game in time for its
release from Singapore (it was a late release in Aus).
The purpose with this message is to warn other people in Singapore to
buy the game.
As they should! Unless they are PC noobs :)
Another rather annoying thing with the game was the error messages,
you know they sit on the faq already why couldn't they just display
help related to the error messages without me, as a user need to
google the answer.
Huh? So you got the game working? Are we talking in-game msgs? If so, the
message/chat tabs are entirely customisable. You haven't read the manual or
anything at all, have you?
Funny, with other Mmorpgs I have never had any issues, ok with Anarchy
Online when it was new but EQ, EQ2, WoW, Rappelz and some others I
don't remember the name of right now just worked.
LOTRO 'just works' if you take the time to *read* the basics. How someone
can have enough time to grind an mmorpg for months, yet not spend an hour or
so reading up on the essential is a sociological mystery to me.
For the record, EQ2's & AO's UIs are significantly more complex/confusing
out of the box, imo, and Rappelz has mechanics that make no sense unless you
read up on the forums.
I am no newbee when it comes to programming so I know there are lots
of different hardware, internet options etc to handle but... the other
companies did..
And all the other millions of players got it working, even the ones from
Singapore...except you.
