I'd like to know opinions about LOTRO, Guild Wars, and CoH/CoV.
LotRO is a WoW clone. A total and complete clone of WoW. No ifs ands
or butts about it. So this one is easy. If you want a game that looks
and plays almost exactly like WoW, but in the Tolkien universe
instead, then get it. That's it.
I never considered Guild Wars to be an MMO. There is only one common
area in this game. After that, you enter your own instance (game).
That could easily describe Diablo 2 on BattleNet (also free) but it
does not describe an MMO to me. Also, figuring out what skills I had
to take with me (guessing) felt like a card game, not an RPG to me.
This game does not feel like an MMO or a CRPG. Next!
City of Heroes and Villains. I think you should play this one. Its
fun. It feels very different from WoW. It gets boring after a few
months, but you will enjoy it while it lasts I think.
I think there are free trials for both Eve and Everquest 2 if you want
to give them a try as well.
