If you haven't played "Temple of Elemental Evil" yet, you'll enjoy it. It's a
bit buggy, but a worthy Gold Box successor.

Played through the pirate town with the brothel and got too carried away
modding/fixing scripts. Too bad the devs gave up on it, it really had
potential. Icewind Dale was a pretty good successor even if it used
Infinity Engine. I think those games are the closest to the PnP
experience because all characters are "equals" -- no "one character is
son of god, rest of party are disciples" that seems to be prevalent in
most other CRPGs. Ultima 3 v. Ultima 4, if you will.
