Well, my old clunker decided to chuck it in. I come in, turn the
power on, and am greeted by the lovely smell of burning plastic and
solder. Mmmmmmm :p
True it was only the powersupply, but I took it as a sign from the all
mighty whatsisface that I should make me a new computer. I'll fix up
my old one and give it to my brother later ;) $1750 later I am now
the happy geek with a:

Intel E6600 Core 2 Duo
Asus Mainboard P5N32-E SLI Plus
Gigabyte 8800 GTS
2 Gig of Corsair DDR2-800
600W iGreen CoolMaster (85% efficiency ftw, never let anyone tell you
powersupplies aint key to your system!)
with a terabyte of SATA II goodness.

I was going to get the Gigabyte 8800 GTX, BUT I'm think rather than
spend just shy of a grand on the card itself, I can spend less than
half of that, and just SLI it when I feel the need to upgrade. The
600W powersupply can also handle two 8800GTS's, but for two GTX's you
need a freaken gigawatt!
Sigh, had some troubles with BSOD's after installs. My bad, didn't
twist in one of the CPU heatsink clips properly. Took me a day to
find out after part swapping, talk about frustrating :/. I tell ya in
all my past years of working as a tech, CPU coolers have always been
the most depressing things to install. With no other item do I feel
like I'm going to break quite as much as them.

I'm jealous!. I figure I can do the same upgrade, all the same parts (except
I just got a new antec650w psu last month when the old one died). but I have
to wait until after June when my diploma is finished. it costs me $100/w in
expenses to travel and eat, I can put that money back into a new pc after it
is over.
