Is there some special way to run away from a battle? I haven't been able
to do that - if I try to run it's just a free for all where the foes get
to attack me all the easier. Seems better to just stand your ground and
fight.

Not that I plan on fighting any trees. Heck, trees aren't evil anyhow,
they're just angry at trespassers. :)

I have found that dying quite effectively removes me from battle :D

I just hate it when I'm smart enough to run, I get a ranged person who
keeps plinking away at me until I fall into a small heap and meet
other nice people who suffered a similar fate :)

Usually I'm quite careful, but sometimes when I'm working a new area and
I'm not familiar with where the spawn locations are I have been ganged up
on by groups of dishonorable monsters. I wish that for realism, they'd
have disable respawning within a close range of any players or better yet,
have all respawning occur off screen. Having stuff just appear, when
there's no explanation (such as magical summoning or an ant mound opening
or something) just kills the immersion for me.
