Have it 'and' a DVD from a GameStop store. Thanks for the heads up.
Do you think I should overwrite the downloaded one with the DVD from
the store?
If you want cutscenes and have a rig that'll run high def textures, then use
the DVD. Otherwise, just go with what's already downloaded. You'll need to
open an account using the preorder key you got with the DVD to play right
now and mark yourself as a "Founder", whatever you do.
I still an not sure which RACE or type of CLASS to choose as I am
more of a "Fun" player and would be glad to support a group as (?)
class and race.
It doesn't really matter. Just choose whatever race you think will be the
most fun. There are only 4 races, and the dwarves and elves share an area,
although they're doing different starter quests. You can solo all the
starter areas if you like, although there'll be a few times you'll probably
have to briefly camp spawns, with things as crowded as they are. Once you
get past the starter/"noob" tutorial area, you can head out and group with
any of the other races you want. So if your inner self has always wanted to
be a Hobbit and farm pipeweed in the Shire, now's your chance. :-)
Can you advise which might be the most asked for Race/Class from
within the game? That might give me a heads up on groups of players
or whatever that would appreciate having a, "Venerable Leader" so
has been mentioned by so fellow in this newsgroup.
Hard to say--I played all the classes except Burglar to at least level 10
during the closed beta, and they're all pretty playable. So again, it
doesn't matter. Heh, this ain't a job, db--just have fun. So read the
descriptions, look at the toons, and go with what you like the looks of.
Heh, I'm playing a blonde elf Loremaster babe named Cularian on the Meneldor
server and another elf hotty--a Minstrel named Morwenreth--on Elendilmir.
Nossie said he had it that Elendilmir is the defacto Aussie server, and we
started characters together there. We both played a while on the Meneldor
server, too, and neither of us could tell spit's difference in pings--which
makes sense, considering that I'd read somewhere that all the game servers
are in the NE US somewhere.
So don't feel like there's any lines you have to toe, just saddle up and
have fun. If somebody does happen to feel like you've stepped on their
toes, just plead blatant senile noobism, and then if they still don't like
it, then *** 'em. :-)
I don't know for sure which of the servers I'll play on, but right now I'm
leaning towards Elendilmir, so if you make a character there, add Morwenreth
to your friends list and give me a holler--you'll be able to tell if I'm on,
and you'll get a message when I come on if I'm not. I'll try to give you
all the help I can.
YOU would not know this fellow would you? [s***]
