1) Is it worth going for the collector's edition?
Depends on your tastes, the game isn't any different.

Damn! And I was expecting the character to have a halo
around him or something! ;0)

2) Is it better to go for the XBox version or the PC
version?
Depends on your choice of controllers and whether you want
to mod the game.

I heard that the PC version crashes a lot and is full of
bugs, but I guess those would be fixed by now. Also heard
that they designed it with XBox in mind and its more
intuitive to play using the XBox.

The modders are what is going to make the game as it should
have been. There are several mods out there that change the
leveling, graphics, loot, etc. There are at least a couple of
hundred mods out there. Some change game play, and others do
things like add outhouses to the game (slight sarcasm). One
patch out for the PC (actually two, the first was a beta!).
With the PC you can actually give your self items or fix
quests that aren't working properly. XBox you are stuck with
what you have and any 'mods' or addons you'll have to pay
for...Go to the Bethsesda forums at:

and check out the Oblivion Mods forum.
If your present machine can handle Oblivion then stick with
it. I'm using an AMD Barton 2500+, one gig of ram and a 7800
GS graphics card. Some slow downs but I think its more due to
a CPU bottleneck. Crashes? Not many to speak of. And I'm
running my anti-virus, anti-trojan, seti@home, etc
programs..not shutting anything off to play. Of course,
YMMV...p
