You can observe your standing with various groups on the character ***,
i.i.r.c. - very much doubt that one kill is going to register much, though.

Check the rat stats on a site like Eveinfo.com - that will tell you the sec gain for the various ships. It's tiny for each one, of course, but adds up. Roughly, the bigger the bounty the more the sec gain.
