Okay, you're the only person so far who's responded and hasn't recommended
NVidia - so if I go for ATI, what spec card should I be looking for? As a
starting point, what's their equivalent (performance-wise) to the 6600GT?


Something in the X800 range, I'd think.

Doesn't that series only have Shader Model 2.0 support? You wouldn't be
able to use HDR, if so.
