I would say about 30 minutes minimum to do anything worthwhile. But almost
any PC game I'd feel the same way about that, and for some, that's not
nearly long enough. This is, after all, an RPG, not an arcade game or a
card game. I guess you could spend 10 minutes collecting alchemy components
and call that "progress" if you want, but that's not going to be long
enough to complete a quest or something like that.
Depends on the quest, I can think of one that starts out where you're supposed
to follow someone around all day that can easily be completed in 5 minutes. :)
