No he hasn't. No it didn't. Check old pricelists, your memory is
playing tricks on you. There's always been some insanely pricy
prestige cards. In 1997, for instance, 3dfx SLI cost almost $600, and
the top Obsidian cards roughly $2500. And yes people like Magnulus
were bitching about how insane it was that these newfangled games
"forced" them to upgrade from their cherished Matrox Millenniums.

Aha. And this has suddenly changed? Because I could've sworn that's
what I paid for my 6800Ultra.
