It's not really that different to a percentage value in terms of usefulness,
for example I only want to know if a game gets above about 88% or not. So >
88% = 1 & < 88% = 0. Of course this breaks down due to personal taste,
someone else might consider 60% to be acceptable.
I'm not sure how you are equating a binary scoring method to an unbalanced
review though. There is no reason why someone can't write an informative,
balanced review of a game, covering all good and bad points, then in the end
sum up by saying it's either worth buying or it's not worth buying.
