geez, and I'd've thought from the ways you guys were writing that the
reviewer would've given it a 2/5, but no, he gave it a 5/5. Where's the
problem? The review is mostly accurate, and is about as well written as
any other review for any other game. The reviewer was NOT a fanboy.


Lastly, he was correct about Gothic's memory usage. Did PB ever hear of
optimization? The version I got in gold leaks like a sieve, not only
going through 256M like PacMan, but 512M just about as fast, while other
games from the era(and newer) such as Morrowind perform significantly with
256 or 512M as compared to Gothic 2. (I really hope that they do a better
job with 3's engine(cleaned-up-wise), and with the terrain/vegetation
graphics which are the one piece of graphics in Gothic 2 that I found to
be horrid... almost as bad as BCMG)

All of this being said, IMNHO Gothic is at best an ok adventure game with
a more than usual amount of RPG elements for such a hybrid. It's an ok
game to me at best. The writing is iffy(or maybe the translation), the
voice acting gets to be annoying, combat is well .. er ... it's there, but...,
magic system is weak, graphics are ok, sound is ok, interface reminds me
of early 90's DOS games, etc. (personally, I'd give it a 3 - 3.5 / 5,
compared with a 4 - 4.5 / 5 for MW, 4/5 for Battlecruiser Millenium Gold,
4.5 / 5 for Wiz8, 4 / 5 for NWN, 3.5/5 for Wizards & Warriors, 1 / 5
for Dung Lord, 4 / 5 for M&M6-8, 3.5 /5 for BG & IWD series, etc.)
