I used to take a lot more than 15-20 hours for games like GK2 one of
my
faves. More like a few weeks. But I only played those games off and
on
like after work or weekends It reminds me of 7th Guest. It took me a
couple of months to play that game mostly due to the microscope
puzzle.
I could have skipped it, but I wanted to see if I could solve it, so
tried it now and then and one day managed to solve it. I was
shocked -LOL.

I still have the 7th Guest and the 11th Hour. They both worked well in
Win98 but I have not tried XP.

I don't have Win XP, but use Win 98SE and have a Win2K partition. I
haven't tried 7th Guest for a while. I think it worked in Win 98 ok, but
maybe not in Win2K or Win XP. If not, it would probably work OK in
Dosbox.

I remember wanting to get the Creative
Labs Multimedia 2X CD/sound card upgrade so I could play 7th Guest. I
think I paid $200US for the 2X CD/8 bit SB. Now many years later I am
still upgrading (new video card in the mail) to play games!!!

Now that you mention it, my SB16 sound card was ok for 7th Guest but I
had to upgrade my video card to play it and I remember somebody saying
to me are you going to upgrade your video card just to play one game?
(at that time my computer played all other games), so I said Yes, I am
going to get another video card. I think , though not positive, that I
had a 1 MB video card and upgraded to 2 MB Trident video card, something
like that. There was such a lot of talk about 7th Guest at the office
where I worked, that I felt I had to get it at the time. 7th Guest was
really a pioneer of its time. Nothing touched it for a while. Its a
great game. I liked 11th Hour as well. Not everybody liked it as well as
they liked 7th Guest, but both games were good. They don't make them
like that any more unfortunately -nothing lasts forever :)
