SUCCESS AT LAST

I finally succeeded in getting Goblins 2 to work WITH sound. I
uninstalled the game as I've done a hundred times before, and in Dox box
after mounting the C drive, I tried "mount f: f:\ -t cdrom -aspi " as
one of Erimess's suggestions but was one I was going to try myself, but
didn't think it would work, but that worked. The game started up and I
held my breath to see if it would have sound and it did. I was amazed.
The funny thing is, my DVD rom (which is E:) does not work with Doxbox
with the same commands as for the cdrom drive. It just hung when the
game was supposed to start up on the screen. Maybe because its not a
cdrom drive, its a DVD rom drive. And in the command line it says -t
cdrom and its not a cdrom. Thats my guess.
So thanks to all who kept me encouraged with suggestions, especially to
Erimess with her extensive advice and suggestions. And Matt, you were
right, we were very close. I figured it had something to do with the
cdrom drive since when the game was supposed to start up, the neither
the cdrom light, nor the hard drive light lit up showing activity, so I
was right in a way that the cdrom drive was not being detected.

As to ASPI, I knew it was something to do with connecting programs to
dvdrom and cdrom drives, but I didn't know exactly what it did.

I did a google search of ASPI, and Erimess, since you said you were not
sure what aspi was, check http://aspi.radified.com/ - I didn't even know
my cdrom had ASPI, whatever it is :)
By the way Erimess, you asked if the drive letter (e or whatever) is
case sensitive for Dosbox. I tried both e and E, and doesn't seem to
matter.
The solution was nothing really difficult, if I had only known to
try -aspi from the start, and it is one of the last suggestions on the
Dosbox screen, so I was working my way down. Success at the last house
on the street so to speak.
Now I can finally play the game. Problem solving to get the game running
was a game in
itself :) I am going to answer a few other messages posted last night if
they still apply.

So thanks again all - and Erimess :)

Mary
