They are still valid opinions though. Sadly, as often happens I guess for
"early adopters", I finished the game before any decent patches came out for
it and I really don't see me ever playing the game again. In fact the only
reason I haven't un-installed it is I am waiting for some kind of activation
revocation so I can sell it on with a clean conscience.
FarCry 2 nominally will revoke its activation when you uninstall. You
can also download a revokation tool from Ubisoft to manually regain an
installation without uninstalling (of course, if you do this you'll
need to re-activate before you can play the installed game again).
(the revoke tool is about halfway down the page on
http://farcry.uk.ubi.com/unlock/ )
Having said this, I would like to share my story as a warning. I
uninstalled FarCry 2, the uninstaller tried revoke the activation and
failed. I don't know why but I'm willing to give Ubisoft the benefit
of the doubt on this; perhaps it was a network problem.
FarCry then helpfully provided me with an uninstall key that I could
forward to Ubisoft to manually revoke my install. All I had to to do
was let Ubisoft know to free up an install. The problem is, nowhere
was there any contact information that I could use: no website, no
email address, no phone-number. Contacting their main support lines
resulted in a very confused customer-service person who had no idea
what I was talking about.
Ultimately, I just gave it up as a lost cause; I still have four
activations left but it doesn't matter. SecuROM has been so completely
broken that next time I install FarCry 2 I'll just use the crack.
Those last four activations are never getting used.
So, don't bother waiting for the revoke tool; it's already out there.
Just be careful using it.
