If this is true I bet Mr Levine is going to be livid. It seems that
pissing off a lot of customers with an overbearing security system has
all been for naught.

In fact when I think about it I'm pissed off too! I got a great game
wrapped in a pile of *** security system that could prevent me playing
it for years to come, whilst some pirating twat can get a 'free' version
of the game that they are guaranteed to be able to play in years to come.

It seems to me that there is a little irony here. :(

Simple answer don't buy the game in the first place ... now that wasn't
difficult was it?

Yes but I wanted to play it and support the development team for a great
game. That's why I bought it.

It seems to me that 2k games has pissed a lot of money up the wall at
Securom and pissed off their customer base that got them a mere 5 day delay
before a crack appeared.

Yup, we have had to put up with all the ***, just to give the company a 5
day period of grace before the game was cracked. I really hope the
additional money 2K games spent on Securom and additional support costs was
worth the 5 day delay that they got.

To me piracy is looking more and more like an attractive alternative. Just
compare the pros and cons:

Official version
Cost: £24 GBP
Security: Securom, DVD in drive, only 2 installs (now 5).
Can Play in 15yrs time: Maybe - if I'm lucky. (Hope those activation
servers are still around)
Number of installs: Was 2, now 5.

Pirated version
Cost: Free
Security: None
Can play in 15yrs time: Yes
Unlimited installs: Yes

I know developers need to protect their interests. But the methods they use
must be effective (longer than 5 days please) and must not limit the user's
rights to install a product that they have bought.
