BioShock Tweaks/Cheats

OK, this info may have been posted before, but just in case.

FOR REFERENCE, MY SYSTEM:
P4 2.4GHz, 1024mb RAM
GeForce 6600GT AGP 256mb VRAM
SB Audigy 24bit Sound Card
WinXP Pro SP2
DirectX 9.0c

FILE LOCATIONS:
Save Games = My Documents\BioShock

*Bioshock.ini & User.ini*
C:\Documents and Settings\your-profile-name\Application Data\Bioshock
NOTE - This is a System Hidden folder, so see you have to check
enables in Tools menu, Folder Options, View tab.

PRE-TWEAK NOTES:
1) I found I had to do much tweaking, and had crashes until all
settings were adjusted. WARNING - If your game crashes, some of the
options (set from main menu) will go back to defaults.

2) Best practice; set options from the main menu, after setting each
category one at a time (video, audio, game)EXIT THE GAME to ensure
your setting gets saved.

3) On page 9 of the TweakGuide is a simple way to do away with the
into movies. Loading BioShock goes directly to the main menu. I
suggest you set this before even launching the game the first time
just to help with any troubleshooting.

4) In the folder with Bioshock.ini & User.ini I created a folder
"Backup" and keep a *copy* of my current WORKING INIs there. That way
if a crash changes your options to defaults, you can just copy the
backups to original location.

5) This is not verified, but I had set the Game option about Adaptive
Training to OFF. With this setting, the Welcome to Rapture chapter
would not load and I got crashes. Upshot, do not change this setting,
leave ON.

TweakGuide - BioShock

PG-5:
Vertical Sync - heed the note about enabling Triple Buffering which is
done via a graph card setting.

Shadow Maps - I turned this OFF for performance

Force Global Lighting - I turned this ON for performance

PGS-7 & 8 (Advanced tweaks)
Some of these are critical.

CacheSizeMegs - for my system, to get BioShock to run smoothly, I
tried 64 and finally 128 (note that you must have 1024mb RAM minimum)

For increased performance....

WindowedViewportX=800
WindowedViewportY=600
FullscreenViewportX=800
FullscreenViewportY=600

I set these in Bioshock.ini because of the crashes setting them back
to defaults, setting in the INI prevented this.

CRITICAL
Pay special note to the [FMODAudio.FMODAudioSubsystem] section in the
tweak guide. I had to adjust all the settings in this section to get
Audigy sound to work correctly.

DesiredRefreshRate - I set this to match the sync rate set for my
monitor, 75. Suggest you do the same, check your Display Properties
to see what sync rate you're using.

LevelOfAnistropy=2 - my setting for performance

OverriceDesktopRefreshRate=True - the "just to be safe" setting

Hope this helps someone.
